HAND-CROCHETED BABY BLANKETS w/BURP
These baby blanket sets are made from 100% cotton flannel. They have been 'hemstitched' and a crocheted edge of "Hugs & Kisses" has been added. Some sets are specifically for boys, while other are intended for girls. Some sets can be used by either boys or girls. Blankets are approximately 44" x 44" square and include one baby burp cloth. Each blanket is a one-of-a-kind creation - no two are exactly alike. Locally made for us by Heirloom Hemstitching.

Due to the seemingly never ending increases in the cost of fabric - especially cotton, we have had to increase the price of our cotton flannel baby blankets. We are now paying over $10 a yard for flannel!
Cotton is traded as a commodity like gold, silver and orange juice. Short supply and high demand causes the current and future prices of this commodity to rise. Over the past while, there has been less cotton to go around. Global cotton supplies have been reduced due to flooding in Pakistan and loss of crop, hail storms in Texas, water issues in California, Indias decision to refuse cotton exports and China has depleted their strategic cotton fibe reserve. Also, many farmers in the US and Brazile over the past couple of years have changed over their fields from growing cotton to growning corn or sugar cane to make ethanol. Bottom Line: the cost of cotton flannel fabrics for making our Baby Blanket sets have gone up dramatically (and may continue to do so) and therefore our prices have had to go up too! We are sorry. |
