A Narrative History of Uintah County: as Told to and Recounted by George Longby George Long
Uintah County has one of the most historical backgrounds of any in the state of Utah. Due to its remoteness and inaccessibility in early days, it was one of the last areas of the state in which to be settled. But when settling did take place it was done by a special group of pioneers who came and worked together to overcome the hardships and obstacles that confronted them in order to make their livelihood and homes here. They were for the most part determined to make this area of Utah as important and outstanding as any place in the state. Here are short stories compiled about these special people and the part they have played in the development of Uintah County. Some are personal histories and outstanding events, while others tell of unique places that the county has been noted for. There are stories of early transportation and others that tell of tragic circumstances. All of these stories are of historical significance and were obtained first hand by the author.
